today's shuffle: when 5 songs that don't suck come knocking on your door, might as well let them in
I’ve decided to wrap up the week with some song recommendations in hopes to help everyone discover something new and exciting. So, if you happen to be one of those people who is constantly on the hunt for new music to add to your soundtrack, look no further, this post is dedicated to you.
With that being said, lets get this thing started my friends, and walk into the indie paradise of beautifully made music.
ARTIST: THE DODOS
This gem is by a band called the dodos. They came out with a new album this month and I’m glad to see they’re still making music. I chose one of their older songs though because I think “visitor” is always going to be their best album. The singer has a voice that I’m addicted to and I usually throw on their songs while I’m cruising on my longboard or sitting on the beach.
SONG: POSTCARDS FROM HELL
ARTIST: THE WOOD BROTHERS
The Wood Brothers are an absolute must hear if you ask me. They’re an amazing folk band from Colorado and this song is my favorite by them because it seems to be telling a story. People who go out there, do what they love and make good music are always good in my book, and they do just that.
SONG: HUMBUG MOUNTAIN SONG
ARTIST: FRUIT BATS
A “I’m happy to be alive, hell yea lets go for a drive” type of song, it’s essential for everyone’s lives. Thats why I’m excited for “humbug mountain song” to be heard. The music video is….interesting, but this band has something special about them and I can’t help but enjoy their work.
SONG:POWER OVER ME
ARTIST: DERMOT KENNEDY
I simply could not write a post without talking about Ireland’s finest artist, Dermot Kennedy. His voice and lyrics are both very strong and original. While I was in Ireland actually, he was on the come up and I heard his songs playing in local pubs and have been in love with him ever since. He started off playing on the streets of Dublin and is a prime example of hard work paying off.
Last but definitely not least, “never summer”. There is very little information about this artist but I love this song and I think you will too. It’s got such a smooth feel to it and I love when I can play something that is genuinely good that nobody’s ever heard of before. Mystery man Brad, keep it up!
Alright, well that’s all I have for this week! Thank you for listening.
Stay weird my friends
